Victim Assistance

The Rosenberg Police Department’s Victim Assistance program began in 1991 as a volunteer run program.  The City of Rosenberg officially added the Victim Assistance Unit in September 1993.

Rosenberg Police Department in 1993 was one of only a few law enforcement agencies in the State of Texas with a full time Crime Victim Liaison.

In 1995, Chief Robert Gracia received the “Law Enforcement Award” from the Governor’s Office due to the Rosenberg Police Department’s innovative victim service program.  Prior, to that, Austin Police Department recognized the Rosenberg Police Department in an award ceremony for “Vision and Determination to Build a Strong Victim Program.”

Each victim is different and so are the particular needs of the victim. Assistance can range from filing of Texas Crime Victim Compensation with the Attorney General’s Office; Information on victim’s rights; On-scene crisis intervention; Explanation of Emergency Protective Orders; Evaluation of victim short-term needs;  Telephone counseling.  Flexibility is essential to helping the victim of crime.

The Victim Assistance Unit is available to help you if you become a victim of a crime. As a victim of a crime, we want to see that your rights are not forgotten.

It is the policy of this department to provide quality investigation of all cases. The rights of crime victims will be of utmost concern and the apprehension, arrest, and prosecution of offenders will be accomplished whenever possible.
