Thank you for visiting the official website of the Rosenberg Fire Department. Our fire department is a combination department made up of paid and volunteer fire fighters.
The paid staff is comprised of 32 suppression personnel and 6 administrative personnel. This includes a Fire Chief, an Assistant Chief, 3 Captains, 6 Lieutenants, 6 Apparatus drivers, 15 fire fighters, a Fire Marshal, two building inspectors, one rental property inspector, an Administrative Secretary, and a Department Secretary.
We provide fire, rescue, and first responder services for about 80 square miles of territory in the city and county. The territory in the county is part of what is known as Extra Territorial Jurisdiction. This is an area that will be in the City limits sometime in the future.
The paid and volunteer staffs work very closely together to provide the community with many different services. These include fire suppression, first responders, rope rescue, hazardous materials, water rescue (swift and still), collapse and cave-in rescue, and vehicle extrication. More recently we have become part of two specialized regional response teams, one in Hazardous Materials and the other in Collapse Rescue.
In addition to emergency operations we conduct building inspections, fire prevention classes to students and adults, fire extinguisher classes, and operation baby safe.
Operation Baby Safe is a program we conduct in cooperation with the area hospitals. We provide all families that live in the City of Rosenberg with a free smoke detector that have a newborn baby. This project allows us to help ensure that all homes in the city have smoke detectors.
In an effort to ensure ALL homes are adequatly protected by working smoke detectors we are also able to provide a FREE smoke detector to any resident living in our response territory thanks to a program sponsored by Wayne Wright.
