Adoption Procedure

Rosenberg Animal Control does not have an on-staff veterinarian. The animals are cared for
and treated by the animal control staff. There is no guarantee on the health of any animal
adopted from our agency. The staff will let you know, to the best of their observations, if the
animal is an acceptable pet for younger or older family members.

After the animal is considered abandoned, it can be adopted. The 72 business hours must have
elapsed before the animal can be adopted. Animals 4 months of age and older will not be released
directly to the new adopters. It can be taken the next business day(after payment of applicable fees)
to the veterinarian for sterilization and a rabies shot. The animal will then be picked up at the end
of the same day from the vet clinic by the new adopters.

Animals under 4 months of age can be adopted. The new adopters must bring proof that the sterilization
and rabies vaccination has been done by the assigned date on the adoption contract. Failure to provide
this proof as described by state law will cause a citation to be issued to the adopting party.
As stated before, animal control is a small agency and we try to be at the shelter as much as possible.

and we will contact you as soon as possible.
